This project involved engineering, procurement and construction of a 690 V/25 kV distribution system in Pincher Creek for 60 wind generators and creating one of Alberta’s largest wind farms.
The project included the design and installation of transformers, underground low and high voltage cable, overhead construction and connection to the substation.
With the implementation of our innovative stringing techniques we were able to string 1 km of 3-phase cable in 20 minutes.
Working through one of the worst spring storms in history, we were able to complete the project on time in order to enable our customer to meet commitments as well as increase power supply to the grid. With this additional capacity the grid was able to provide power for the Calgary C-Train to become Canada’s first wind powered transit train.
On completion of this project, CANA Utilities was awarded additional work with this client.
