Drake Landing involved a solar project that was the first of its kind in North America. The project was specifically created to preserve precious natural resources, provide greater energy efficiencies and reduce pollution by utilizing a ground water system heated by solar power.
CANA Utilities successfully completed the first phase of Drake Landing under the Fortis Turnkey Process in the spring of 2005. This process involved the complete design, procurement of materials and installation of each Underground Residential Distribution (URD) system. This project incorporated the design and installation for the burial of main overhead feeder lines, collector street lighting, and commercial installations.
To date, CANA Utilities has installed over 577 four-party (power, telephone, CATV and gas) residential lots to the Drake Landing community.
