CANA Utilities has successfully completed 19 phases for this project over the past six years. These phases were completed under the FortisAlberta turnkey process. This process involves the complete design, procurement of materials and installation of each Underground Residential Distribution (URD) system.
This residential development incorporated the design and installation for the burial of main overhead feeder lines, pedestrian crossings, collector and residential street lighting, all of which were designed to IES (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) guidelines. In addition, a bareland condominium was installed during the course of this development.
In 2004, the project became a development utilizing four party installation methods, which allowed for the simultaneous installation of power, telephone, cable TV and gas in a common trench. The project was continued as a four-party job until the area was completely developed as of the fall of 2007.
